1. Choose your colors around the season you are getting married in. For example, burgundy in the fall and periwinkle in the spring.

2. Have your dress and your bridesmaid dresses selected and/or ordered prior to making consultation appointments.

3. Once your dresses are selected/ordered, start thinking of your favorite colors that could complement the material.

4. Be sure the flowers you want are available in the season you are getting married. For example, tulips are available January through March. If you are getting married in June, it may become more difficult to guarantee them.

5. Construct a list of all people you would like to acknowledge with flowers: parents, grandparents, readers, singer etc.

6. Browse through bridal magazines to find what grabs your attention. Bring these photos to your consultation, as it will help your florist get an idea of your personal style.

7. Look for bridal bouquets that have more than just white flowers. Don't be afraid to add color to your bouquet. You want your bridal bouquet to complement your dress, not blend in with it.

8. You may want to decorate your ceremony site. Will you need altar vases or a chuppah constructed? Will you need an aisle runner or bows for pews/chairs?

9. As you are looking through magazines, look at reception centerpieces as will. Your reception centerpieces should maintain your wedding theme.

10. Have a budget in mind to help determine the amount and types of flowers you will be able to select for your special day.
