A River Runs Through It (1992). Meticulous and beautifully rendered adaptation of Norman McClean's autobiographical novella is a romanticized view of aw-shucks country living with astonishing picturesque backdrops. The story follows the relationship between young McLean, a straight-laced scholar played by Craig Sheffer and his wilder, younger brother, Paul (Brad Pitt). 2pm.

| August 4 |
Easy Rider (1969). Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper are the hippie bikers who trek across America blithely caught the mood of the times. Jack Nicholson is unforgettable as the alcoholic lawyer with an itch to drop out. 2pm.

King Kong (1933). He is billed as the "eighth wonder of the world" and, in the 70 plus years since the movie's release, animator Willis O'Brien's awesome creature has all but lived up to that title. As an adventure fantasy, King Kong has yet to be outdone.

The Taming of the Shrew. This play is steeped in the Italian tradition of the Commedia Dell'arte. Sexual and gender politics are explored through the comic battle of wills and wits waged between Katherine and Petruchio. We have set our production in the 1950's (a decade before the sexual revolution!) giving the play color and characteristics that will be familiar to our audiences while maintaining the language, integrity and themes of the play as written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago. Of added interest, real life newlyweds Trice Baldwin and Joshua L. Browns play the sparring couple. Bring a blanket or low beach chairs add a picnic basket and enjoy the fireworks in the park for a second time this July.

There Goes the Bride. A harassed advertising executive, Timothy Westerby, hits his head on the morning of his daughter's society wedding. He awakes to find himself in the company of Polly Perkins, a 1920's Flapper girl straight out of his current advertising campaign, whom no one else can see or hear. The situation becomes more
critical when another bump on the head transports Timothy back to the Savoy Hotel in 1926 and the carefully planned wedding preparations disintegrate into chaos. Will family and friends be able to pull Timothy back to reality before the 'in-laws' abandon the wedding? |
