An extraordinary and exciting opportunity for young actors to study with Professional Directors, Performers, and Technicians. This intensive, two-week day camp is a fun, enriching and rewarding experience. Campers write, design, and perform an improvisational theatre production that is performed on the Media Theatre stage for family, friends and the general public. Jesse Cline, Artistic Director, oversees all aspects of the Camp. Each camp session is designed for children 5-17 years of age, in three separate age groups.

Hagley's Summer Odysseys. These summer camps are unique learning adventures, integrating history, science, and the arts. Children enjoy experiencing something completely new to them every day! All camps offer both indoor and outdoor activities on our beautiful 235-acre property along the Brandywine. Small groups of fourteen campers led by two adult instructors and three teen counselors; two age groups with developmentally appropriate activities for younger and older children; and educational enrichment that supports Delaware curriculum standards.

Archaeology Adventure. This is a hands-on opportunity to participate in an archeological dig. Open to students who have completed 7th through 10th grade.

Broadwway on Art School Road. This program includes instruction on dance, acting, stage presence and set design. On the final day, campers will present a production on stage at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville.

 
Kids Flicks on the Riverfront
The Dravo Auditorium at the Chase Center on the Riverfront will present Saturday Kids Flicks on the second Saturday of each month. Childrens classics, newer films and cartoon selections will be presented at 10:30am. The event will also feature one hour of childrens activities hosted by the Delaware Childrens Museum, from 9:30am to 10:30am. 2007 Festival of Fountains. Thousands of fountains cast their refreshing magic over Longwood Gardens with three unique water garden performances during the day and on many summer evenings. Illuminated musical fountain displays follow alfresco entertainment on Tues., Thurs., and Sat. nights until Labor Day. Daily visitor programs, including gardening demonstrations, plant walks, and children's activities, add to the enchantment of summertime at Longwood.

 
Mercer Explorer's Camp
Mercer Museum. Located at 84 S. Pine St. Doylestown. Campers will immerse themselves in history by investigating original artifacts in the collections of the Mercer Museum. Topics explored will include farm life, the Lenape people, pottery, whaling, and cooking. Inspired by the objects explored, campers will complete related craft projects and engage in a variety of hands-on experiences. Designed for children who have completed grades 1 through 4. Choose one OR both weeks, activities will vary. The fee is $135 for five-day camp ($115 for BCHS members). Pre-payment is required. To register, call 215-345-0210, ext. 123.

Mill Grove

The beautiful 175-acre Mill Grove estate once belonging to Jean Audubon, father of famous naturalist and artist John James Audubon, has been maintained since 1951 by Montgomery as a museum and wildlife sanctuary for all to enjoy. A variety of special events, workshops, lectures, and other activities for the family, such as Guided Nature Walks, Bird Watching, and Maple Sugaring are offered throughout the year.

The summer estate of former Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker offers 15 acres of beautiful grounds, which are reserved for family recreation, and the Governor's private "museum," where visitors can enjoy a guided tour. Vanity and Virtue: Personal Grooming in America. This jewel-box exhibition explores how Americans washed, shaved, dressed their hair, and used cosmetics in the past. Filled with objects both familiar and strange, from wig curlers to an early toothbrush, Vanity and Virtue reveals many of Winterthur's objects that are not normally seen. Special Tour! "Decorating with Quilts." Quilted chintz was the height of chic in the early 20th century, when Henry Francis du Pont was at the vanguard of interior design. This one-hour guided tour through selected rooms explores du Pont's use of quilts to create beautiful rooms to delight his guests. "Decorating with Quilts" is available to all visitors ages 8 and above in conjunction with a Winterthur Experience ticket. The Winterthur Experience is $20 for Adults; $18 for students/seniors (age 62+), $10 for children (ages 8-11).

iPod Audio Tour Starring TV's Keno Brothers. Now playing in the Winterthur Galleries! This fun, interactive tour - narrated by Leigh and Leslie Keno, antiques experts from PBS's Antiques Roadshow and Find! - focuses on select works representing some of the finest craftsmanship and design of early America. iPods available for loan.
