Beyond Content: Decorative Wooden Boxes. In the 18th and 19th centuries, skillful cabinetmakers created boxes that combined function and beauty. These beautiful and fascinating boxes served a wide variety of purposes. They held expensive teas, protected household silver, and provided organized storage for ladies' sewing supplies, among other uses. Viewed as indispensable accessories, boxes reflect the styles of their times. Borrowed from both private and public collections, the exceptional boxes in this exhibition feature a broad range of decorative elements such as paint, veneer, and carving. |

Lilli Gettinger: Memory Transformed. The horrific experiences of World War II concentration camps and both physical and emotional escape are evoked in pastel drawings and polychrome relief sculptures in this exhibition. It is the first exhibit of the late Princeton area resident's work in over a decade. Often compared to that of German Expressionist Max Beckman, Gettinger's works allude to literature, music and the Bible, and reflect the chill atmosphere of the Nazi era without depicting specific events. |

Works by Alfred J. Munnings. A British artist, Munnings was one of the most highly regarded horse painters of the first half of the twentieth century, renowned for his Impressionistic racetrack and foxhunting scenes and for his equestrian portraits. This exhibition celebrates the Brandywine Conservancy's 30 years as the beneficiary of the Radnor Hunt Races.
